The Garden
|
|
This is my very first attempt at miniature landscaping. Of course, I had a lot of help as many of the items here are from swaps. The base is a wood circle plaque that I picked up for $0.49. I stained the edges and the bottom, but left the top unfinished. I used pre-mixed tile grout for the base of the stone pathway and around the picket fence. While the grout was still wet, I laid the "stones" for the pathway. The stones are cut from an egg carton and painted with acyrlic paints.
When the tile grout dried, I painted it with a mixture of brown acrylic paint and dried coffee grounds.
While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled more coffee grounds on top.
The tree came together quite nicely for my first try. I just used a suitable sized twig and then drilled small holes in it - alternating height and sides. I then put a dab of glue on my dried greenery and fitted them into the holes working from the bottom up. It is kind of like putting a fake Christmas tree together.

Here is the other side of the garden. Please keep in mind that I am not yet finished. In my glee at seeing my vision take form, I just had to share it with you all:) The lovely picket fence with flowers was made by Diann.

The doll is a cheap 6" doll that I really "bashed." I gave her a haircut, painted a new face on her and chopped off several limbs in order to make her fit in the scene. That really makes me sounds like an awful person, doesn't it? I don't believe she will have any lasting scars so maybe you will forgive me:) She still needs some work. I want to add some sleeves to her shirt, touch up her shoes a bit and add some jewelry.

The pretty flower flat was a swap item from Diann. The perfect garden hose was from Diana. The cute little garden gloves and hand trowel are from Kerrie. The garden sign is by Rose. |

The birdfeeder and gazing balls are from Kerrie. The cattails are by Carolyn. The birdbath is another item from Diann:)

The yellow watering can is from Cyndi. The absolutely gorgeous yellow iris is by Nanner. I think this is a good close-up shot of the stones. You can see where I added some moss in between them:)
