The Daffodil

~*~
8/24/05 - Had a bit of free time and worked on the dollhouse some more. I completed the foyer and the laundry room. I also added a photo of the teenager's room that I finished at the end of June. Shame on me for not getting a photo up sooner.

Before photo of the entryway. You can see the bottom step needed to be fixed.

The foyer - all finished! See the new step! I am just tickled that it came out so close to the original.

Left side of the foyer. Shows the great umbrella stand I received from Bobbi, the amazing coat rack from Kerrie and the pretty fall broom from Lisa. Also a beautiful painting from Mary Ann.

Right side of the foyer. The small side table is a chrysonbon kit. The lovely plant is from Diann. Another painting from Mary Ann is above the bench. I would like to add lots of photos to the wall by the stairs.

This is the bench that I re-did.

The pride and joy of my foyer. I was so pleased with how the bench turned out. I painted it with Barn Red acrylic paint and searched through old Christmas cards for the perfect scene. Then I just cut it up and glued it in. The fabric goes so well with everything and I think gives it a country look. Wish I had something like this in real-life:)

The laundry room - before I got started. Just the bare bones really.

Here is the finished laundry room. I put a false wall in. It was a real pain in the neck to wallpaper. What is that saying " Measure once, cut twice." I sure hope so...LOL I test-fitted everything, but once I had the glue on it didn't seem to fit so perfectly anymore:( Oh well, I used to think I was a perfectionist....apparently imperfect wallpapering is something I can just live with. On to the good stuff. The flagstone floor was my first try at this technique. I used a great tutorial from http:/miniwizz.tripod.com Many of the items are from swaps. I made the washing machine from instructions in a book by Carol and Nigel Lodder called Making Dolls'House Interiors: Decor and Furnishings in 1/12 Scale.

The right side of the laundry room shows the very neat ironing board that actually works and can be folded up! The lovely blue shelf if from an Secret Santa swap - made by Lori as well as the matching stool. I just love the color and it matches so well with the wallpaper.

This is the left side of the room. It has a great hamper that I received from a lovely lady that emailed me about my website. I believe everything else was received from swaps. Now let's see, all I need to make is a dryer, maybe a shelf for holding the laundry detergent, a garbage can, a drying rack and something to hold all the clothes that are ironed.

Here is the teenager's room. Been going a bit crazy with my Pretty Pleater:) Lots of swap items in here. Some of my favorites are the crocheted and embroidered pillows on the bed by Carolyn Petry and the amazing shelf above the bed by Mary Ann. Also on the shelf there is the cutest clay doll by Bobbi and, of course, the cd's, books & notebook scattered on the floor all made by Kerrie.

6/30/05 - I worked on the dollhouse craft room today. I was amazed out how quickly it all came together. Many items are from swaps. I still have some work to do here. I need to make a better chair for the desk. I just threw in a dollar store one for the time being. I would also like to make a large braided rug and possibly an overstuffed armchair.

Craft Room (right side) Below is a photo showing the long shelves that I made for all the craft supplies. I am really happy with how it turned out. Now I just need more supplies to fill up the shelves. Some items of notice are the toaster oven (on top) made by Barb Lewis and the gorgeous 144th scale scene received from Michelle T.

This is a absolutely darling mini dollhouse lighthouse made by my good friend Melinda. I just love all the details. I will have to get a better photo. This one is slightly blurry. You can also see my kitty cat. Just too adorable! He looks like my cat Neo.

Craft Room (left side) Here is the desk & the scrapbooking supplies that Mishelly made for a one-on-one swap. Also you can see on the wall a wonderful Butterfly collection received from Fern Rouleau.

This is a close-up of the items on the desk. The sewing pattern & supplies are from Kerrie.

2/19/05 - The house is all shingled. I changed the paint a little bit. I didn't quite like the green color. Just have to put the bricks on the chimney. I have started finishing up some of the inside rooms. I still have many to go, but you can see what progress I've made so far.

Well, I finally got around to painting the Daffodil. I still have to put on the shingles, but am still deciding what color and shape I want. This house will hold the majority of the swap items that I have received through my swapping groups. So keep checking back for updated pics. You may see something you sent in for a swap:) I am almost finished with decorating the inside. The first floor (from left to right) has a kitchen, foyer and living room. The second floor consists of the Master bedroom, formal hall, and girl's bedroom. The third floor still needs a lot of work. I have to finish adding the walls which will seperate the rooms. There will be a partial attic, bathroom and craft room. I also need to put in the trim for the entire house and, of course, decorate!

Here are some before pics. Did I mention that I got this dollhouse for FREE! What a bargain!
